The Parade

Even though it is a cliche, I truly am glad that it did not rain in Drew and Kathryn's parade. There was threat of rain all week, but once again the clouds parted and it turned out to be a beautiful day. They actually had it approved to have a parade. There was a police escort and the Feed and Seed Marching Abominable did a wonderful job of making everyone laugh and have fun. Oh, did I mention that the band was a complete surprise...We knew, but even the parents had no clue.

Oma seems to be handling the surprise quite well. : )

It was like they were kids on a playground. Actually, I think that is how they approach life, which definitely inspired me.

Pure joy!

I think Oma thought she was the queen of the parade!

It made such an impact on me to see how Kathryn and Drew treated their family. Here is Kathryn holding hands with her new mother-in-law as she walks with the parade.

And here is Drew walking with his 85 year old Godfather who insisted on walking the parade and not riding in the car.

Mark helped guide the parade on his scooter.

Andrew and Rachel couldn't pass up this opportunity for some great images! We were all working hard to capture such a lively event. : )

Of course we wrapped up the parade with some dancing.

Drew and Kathryn

May 10th was not our normal wedding or a normal Saturday. Drew and Kathryn put such a personal touch on their wedding and left an impact on each guest with their presence. Every part of their wedding was unique. They even had the Feed and Seed Marching Abominable lead a parade for them from their backyard wedding to the Solarium in Decatur. We have way too many pictures to be able to fit in one post. So we'll post the Feed and Seed Marching Abominable Parade pictures in another post very soon. Andrew, Rachel and Mark (you should check out their blog on this wedding) were all in attendance and were having fun shooting some by our side as well. Ben also came with us and did an amazing job as usual. It was such a joy to document this wedding for a fellow photographer. We just think the world of you guys. We can't wait until you return!

OK, sit back with a cup of tea and enjoy their pictures and slideshow.

We returned to their home after portraits at the Biltmore. This is what I found when I walked through the front door. Kathryn's grandparents and the minister.

A playful moment between Kathryn and her mother moments before the wedding.

The happy couple leaving the ceremony. I just love the color and light in this picture.

Here is sweet little Isabella at the reception. Doesn't she just look dreamy? I love this shot that Chris captured of her.

Here are some floral details. I saw the honeysuckle in Kathryn's glass and wondered what yummy drink she was enjoying. Then while I was working through the images I realized that I also took pictures of her friend from Holland picking some honeysuckle and smelling it. As the story was unfolding before me I realized that her sweet friend picked it for Kathryn to enjoy in her glass. You can see this in the slideshow.

We loved the tomato addition to the florals.

Maggie and David

Maggie and David were married on May 3rd in Rome, Georgia at the Coosa Valley Country Club. Chris was actually in a friend's wedding that day, so Ben came with me to capture the day. Rain threatened to turn their perfect out door ceremony into something a little less than dream like. We were all so happy when the storm decided not to ruin their day. It actually turned out to be just gorgeous. Ben and I loved what we were able to capture and I wanted to share some of them with you.

Thank you Maggie and David for a wonderful day. You were both extremely gracious and kind to us. We wish you all the best!

Click here to enjoy your slideshow.

The beautiful bride with gorgeous light. We could have gone on for hours capturing her beauty.

Mother's Day

I am one of four children. We are all married and have the need to share holidays with our spouse's families as well. This year they were all with the other families. Chris and I were able to meet up with my mom and dad to celebrate Mother's Day just the four of us. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and then sat outside and talked for a long time. It was good to catch up and discuss life in a relaxed setting.

Thank you mom for believing in us and for encouraging us along the way. Your unfailing support and faith keeps us going to become the people you see when you look in our eyes. Forever you will be an inspiration and a model for us to live by. I am surprised by how often I "quote" you. I love that you have given us such wisdom through words. I love you...

An Intimate Bond

We had an amazing day yesterday at our friend's wedding. Drew and Kathryn are the dearest of souls and warm our hearts while we are in their presence. I was unable to sleep this morning and I was looking through a few of the images. I knew as soon as I captured this one that I would love it. I feel that it truly represents their beautiful bond and intimate connection. So here is to you Drew and Kathryn. May you always hold true to this bond and see your love grow.

Love,

Chris and Katie

FYI for those photographers out there.....this was taken with a D3 at 4000 ISO and it is straight out of camera with a simple vignetting added...

Fox Children

Last week Chris and I had the pleasure of visiting the Fox Family. Chris' sister used to babysit them in Chicago and just fell in love with them as a family. We can understand why. They were so great to spend the afternoon with them in their home. Their two adorable children made it easy to capture the joys of childhood from two very different perspectives. Boy and Girl. It was fun to follow them along and see what playtime truly means to them.

Enjoy these adorable two.

Cara Leigh and Tim

Cara Leigh and Tim were married a few weekends ago at Berry. What a wonderful day it was. They are such a great couple and currently live in Savannah. Tim is an Army Ranger and their relationship has been a constant of saying goodbye. We were so happy to hear of his return from Iraq before the wedding. This was his eight time to be there. It takes a strong couple to deal with those demands. We are proud of them both. Thank you guys for a wonderful day.

Both of them preparing for their day.

I love this image of her bridesmaid Carissa anticipating an emotional reaction out of Tim as Cara Leigh was coming down the isle.

Of course at Berry you have to take pictures in our favorite arch way. Each time we try to make it a little different for each couple. This is what I captured of Cara Leigh and Tim.

Tea Time

I'm sitting at my desk working away....and out of the corner of my eye I see Chris approaching. In his hands he has a little plate with fresh almond blossom tea as well as some almond biscotti. He's so sweet to me. We've been swamped lately with work and going non-stop. If there is one thing that can calm my spirit it's some tea. His kind gesture melted my heart and encouraged me to keep going. He saw me taking a picture of the tea and said "oh, boy." He knows those of the likes of Sticky, Garrett and Andrew will give him a hard time for setting the bar for the ladies. : ) Just had to share.

Thank you, babe.

Sara and Nick

Once again! What an honor it is for another photographer to select us to be their photographer. Sara and Nick are just about the sweetest couple to be with. They are extremely laid back and relaxed. We loved that about them. Their wedding with be at Emory this Fall and we know it will be just beautiful. These two are perfect together and we've enjoyed becoming better friends through out their engagement. We can't wait for your wedding guys! Sorry there are so many in black and white. I just loved how those turned out and wanted to share them.

Another Favorite

Yesterday Chris was in a wedding and Ben shot a wedding with me in Rome. It was a great day and I'll share many more images with you soon. I first wanted to show you one of my favorites. This was as they were leaving their reception. Another beautiful fairy tale picture of a couple entering their new marriage.

Drew and Kathryn

What a honor it has been to be selected as Drew and Kathryn's photographers. Drew is a wedding photographer in Decatur and it is always humbling when another photographer wants you to document their day. Their wedding is coming up soon and we wanted to be sure to get their engagement session in while they were still engaged! The wedding is going to be different, wonderful and creative. They have so many different aspects planned and I cannot wait to see it all come together.

Their personalities are just adorable together and kept Chris and I laughing. This in turn kept me from being too nervous about photographing them. I cannot believe that they have only known each other for less than two years. These two seem like they have faced every day of their life together. Their personalities match perfectly.

We cannot wait for the 10th of May!

Enjoy.

This is the house that Kathryn lived in when they first started dating. They wanted to come back here to have the pictures tell that story.

These are the little moments that happened all on their own. They set this up...not us.

We all stopped of at the Carroll Street Cafe for some pellegrino and to discuss their day.

I adore this shot Chris took of them.
