Overton Family

We've been doing many portrait sessions in Rome lately. You might notice similar locations from them at Berry College. We've just been loving all these adorable children we've been able to play around with. Check out all of this gorgeous red hair. The Overton Family were tons of fun.

Krisli and Travis

Krisli and Travis met with us back in the summer as they planned their November wedding. We had a great start with our meeting and knew we'd love their wedding. We were right! Ashley from Event Perfect was on hand with coordination and did a wonderful job. We loved working with her. Their wedding was in Fayetteville, Georgia and reception was at Whitewater Country Club. Our buddy Ben Vigil was along to capture the day with us. We always love shooting with Ben, and as always, he delivered amazing images.

Enjoy their slideshow by clicking here.

Krisli's beautiful ring.

I love this shot Chris captured.

Details of her dress.

Krisli wanted to wear her mother's veil, but was not able to. She did her best to match the lace. I love this detail of it, again one of Chris' great shots.

She did an awesome job selecting her shoes. They were perfect with the fall colors.

Many brides include a sixpence in their shoes for luck. This one was extra special. It was the sixpence from her Grandparent's wedding in 1944. If you look closely, you can see the year. I love the thought of it being the same one from her Grandparent's as well as the fact that this little coin has had quite the journey over the last 63 years. I'm sure it has been through many moves. Through all of this, it was kept safe and saved for Krisli. The next two images after those are special pins from her family on the stem of the bouquet and in the flowers. Wrapped around the bouquet is the lace from her mother's veil.

I love moments in the bride's room. Here Krisli had her parents and all bridesmaids praying over her marriage. What a precious moment. You can see the grooms ring on her sister's thumb, as she encourages Krisli with her touch.

The dashing Travis.

Here is a moment that Ben captured of the ringbearer checking out what he was in for.

The newly married couple!

The first dance with Travis' mother and grandmother looking on.

The father-daughter dance. I just adore this image. Krisli looks like she is just being swept away by her father.

She glowed all day long.

Here are Krisli's parents. What a wonderful family they both have. We could not have asked for better people to spend the day with.

The new couple having a sweet dance circled by their guests.

Rob Clark was the DJ and he did the best job I've seen for keeping a party going.

The exit!

The farewell.

Krisli and Travis, it was an honor to be a part of your day. We wish you the best of luck in your life together.

Thankful

We didn't get around to posting a Thanksgiving blog, but I was feeling thankful today and wanted to share why. Chris has been away for a little while helping family. I've been feeling under the weather all while working diligently on all the sessions we've been doing in this busy time of year. Last night, Andrew and Rachel came by and took me away to dinner. It was a good break. It made me thankful to have friends there to support and encourage. Then Chris came home today with a bouquet of tulips. He knows they are my favorite and how to make my day. : )

Thanks Andrew, Rachel and Chris for being so sweet to me.

Clark Family

The day after Thanksgiving was busy with portraits for us. We had a wonderful time with three different families. Here is the first family. The Clarks. I loved how Holli planned for the girls to all be in brown and the boys in blues. With a backdrop of the stone work at Frost Chapel, you can't go wrong with that color combination. It was very hard to decide which pictures to put on the blog. Here are seven of my favorites.

Emerson Elizabeth

First off, don't you just love her name??

Secondly, it is such a joy to capture the first days of a child's life. They are so still and vulnerable. Willing to just rest in you. Emerson is quite the little beauty. So precious. She has a wonderful family and has entered a world of love and acceptance. I wish all babies were this fortunate. Enjoy their pictures and this precious time in the joy of new life.

Let's just say there are some that are not happy about the new changes taking place.

The moments I love.

There is a certain mixture of pride, love and a magical glow that graces the faces of grandparents and parents on the day of a wedding. There is a well of emotion that is being tapped into. A source that has been on reserve waiting for a day such as this. I love to seek this beauty out. I love to capture it and let it stand still in time for generations to come. This image was from a wedding in October. I loved it the moment it happened and I am still in love with it. This sort of richness inspires me. What is your inspiration?

Aya, Maine is Wicked Good!

value="transparent">
Well we are finally back home after quite an eye-opening trip to Maine. Our friend Eric Laurits, was a wonderful host and tour guide while we were there. The slideshow above is only a taste of what was experianced. It is a collection of what Katie and I captured. There are even a couple that Andrew Niesen and Erin Reed Adams grabbed of Katie and I. We must say that we sorely missed Garrett & Joy and wished we could have share this adventure with them! I really do not know where to begin to tell about this trip.

Here is a picture of our B&B.

We all went with the intention to recharge and relax, but we really went all over the east coast of Maine from shopping in the town of Ogunquit to checking out the Nubbles Lighthouse in York. Actually, the Nubble Lighthouse is the same one from some of the scenes from the music video that Nickel Creek did for the song "The Lighthouse's Tale." The following day we met up with David and Linda Murray, who showed us their wonderful studio in Kennebunk Port. Then they invited us for a delightful lunch at their incredible house in Goose Rocks Beach.

Here, we met up with J Sandifer and Emilie Sommer to add to the warm company. We even met John Santerre, who helps shooting with David and is a bight individual. Inside, David cooked up a delectable treat of mussels and pasta. Ahh, mussels! We then went for a stroll on the beach together, enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun along with the cool salty breeze.

That evening we played a most righteous game of Monopoly! It rather funny seeing how all these entrepreneurs would handle themselves with a lot of cash and property. Rachel Lacour Niesen, took it all(she was really getting Mark and I back for winning the night before)! In the end, she built so many hotels, it would make Donald Trump proud.

The next day, we went to the Old Port section of Portland, Maine with Rachel, Erin and Eric while leaving Mark Adams and Andrew to do a Shoot Q setup party. While in the Old Port area, we shopped and walked and shopped some more. No worries, we did not go overboard.

There is something to be said about leaving your work at home while you are on vacation. Quite frankly, we all found it to be difficult. Especially, since we all love doing what we do. And since we love doing what we do, we cannot wait to do more of it. Photography is more than just a job its a passion that we share.

As we finished up our shopping tour we left by the working lobster piers, where we ate at the Portland Lobster Co. for some fine fried shrimp and good 'ol Clam Chowder. That evening we all got back together; Mark, Erin, Andrew, Rachel, Jeff and his wife, Emilie, J, Eric, John, Katie and I did have some dinner in Portland at this really delicious pizza place called the Flatbread Pizza Company. It included using the freshest, organic ingredients while being green conscious by firing up the pizza in a cement kiln right there, just yards away from our table. After that we went to the post dinner fun at an Irish Tavern Ri Ra. Followed by a late night run to a 24-hour LL Bean!

The final day was not exception. Our flight was not until the evening so we had some time to kill. We did have to have a honey dipped doughnuts and some other rather tasty treats at Congdon's Doughnuts.

So after breakfast, by the way, there is a Dunkin Doughnuts on every corner in the New England states so we had to try something different, Andrew, Rachel, Katie and I decided to head to Boston to see Harvard University before heading out. We had a late lunch then pushed our way through Boston rush hour. Upon making it to the airport we said our final farewells to Eric and the Northeast. Oh, not to mention, Katie and I had our first Whoopie Pie!

Thank you Eric, David and Linda, J, Emilie, and John for making our stay a fun and memorable one. Also, thank you for you kind and warm hospitality.

Update: We are in Maine!

We have managed to find some time to slip away to Maine with our buddies from LaCour and our friend :e:. We'll have much more to recap from the trip soon, but for now we still have more light houses to be explored and lobster to be enjoyed.

(nothing like that nice evening buttery sun at 3:30!!!!)

Family Potraits

We love doing family portraits. Being able to capture one of the most special relionship circles in life is such a joy. Last week we were with a wonderful family. Tim, Meagan, Zach and Everett were all adorable together and a fun to be with. The boys kept us all laughing. : )

Here is an email that Meagan sent us after our session:

"Hi Katie and Chris!
Thank you for spending so much time with our family on Monday night.  We talked about the park and taking pictures for the rest of the night.  Dinner was great at the diner...thank you for the suggestion!  We need to go back just to get another great cheeseburger.

Everett's first drowsy words on Tuesday morning were "I had fun taking pictures."  It was very sweet.  Not only did our family have a fun time, but we get to see pictures of it!

Thanks again!
Meagan"

I loved hearing this from her. We love being able to let a family be a family. We just tag along to capture it.

Random Fact

If you know me, you know how I like my water. Or at least if we have dined together. I get looks most places I go. A mixture of confusion, suppression of laughter and politeness rolled up in one expression. I sit down and request sliced cucumbers for my water. It gives it a fresh, light taste and makes me love water, when normally it is only tolerable. So on Saturday night Chris and I had gone to an event in Atlanta. On the way home we stopped and had Thai for dinner....mmmmm. After I put in my normal request for water. My waiter later asked why I do that. I told him why and he said "because we puree cucumbers and take it to lower blood pressure. It's really good at calming and soothing." Ah ha! I'm not crazy! This probably also explain my blood pressure that is normally around 102/65. : )

Libby and Collin

These adorable two had their pictures taken for a surprise to their father for his birthday. Now that his birthday surprise has passed, we are able to put them on the blog. Are they not just adorable??? : ) Such sweet sibling love.

Maggie and David

Maggie and David will be getting married next May in Rome. We loved meeting with them and were so happy when they decided to use us for their wedding. Maggie and David are so sweet together and it was fun to capture it. We loved how all the colors seemed to work so well with their shoot. Maggie's shirt went perfectly with the backgrounds. It's also one of my favorite colors.

We can't wait for your wedding, enjoy your pictures!
