Cara Leigh and Tim

What a wonderful time of year it is for engagement sessions. It's crisp with a breeze, yet still comfortable enough to have some fun. We met up with Cara Leigh and Time around Centennial Park just a few blocks from our loft. They were naturals in front of the camera even if they don't think so. It was a great time of getting to know them as a couple. They both live in Savannah, but will be getting married in Rome next spring. Enjoy some of our favorites.

Anna Lauren and Eric - The Wedding

While we were shooting a wedding a year ago, Anna Lauren whispered to me the date she would marry Eric. It was a secret, but she wanted to make sure we had the date set aside for them. The year has flown by, and we were so happy to be able to be there to capture the wedding of these two amazing individuals. It was the perfect fall day. The fall wedding colors cheered on the happy couple. They were surrounded by strong family and friends. We knew probably over 300 of the 400+ guests. It's always interesting shooting weddings where we know most of the guests. It's always fun for them to see us in action. Thanks for a wonderful day guys. Enjoy your Slideshow.

In this fun group of girls, this is our third wedding. It's so sweet to watch all of them help each other out as they get married.

The beautiful fall colors.

The beautiful bride!

They were married at Frost Chapel. The reception was at Oak Hill. You might know this location as being the mansion in Sweet Home Alabama. This lawn is where they had the wedding in the movie.

Back at Frost for some more pictures. Look at this gorgeous bouquet!

I love this moment.

Cade, the sword barer and Hannah the flower girl. Too cute for words.

A detail from the guys.

A detail from the girls.

A very emotional father of the bride.

Walking his daughter down to her soon to be husband.

I had a fun vantage point for the grandmothers looking on. They were just precious.

Finished

We've been promising these pictures for a little while now. It's hard to focus on editing our own pictures, when we are working on our client's. I was able to find some time to work on them finally. This was fun for us to do some picture of Brandy and Sticky while they did some of us. It's always good to work on your skills and have fun taking pictures. It's refreshing. Brandy and Sticky were so easy to capture.

Enjoy!

Christmas Pictures

As many of our clients are having us take their Christmas Card pictures, we were wanting one as well. When Brandy and Sticky were in town a few weeks ago we did a session of both of the couples. It was so fun to do that in the city with good company. More on those pictures soon, I promise Garrett! As I am going through some of the pictures, I came across this funny one of Asia. She saw some birds fly over us and started to howl at them. This picture cracks me up and I thought we should share it with everyone.

Honeymoon

We are in Rome, Georgia for an exciting wedding this weekend. After the rehearsal dinner we were driving through the sweetest main street and saw one of our favorite restaurants here, Harvest Moon Cafe. The last time we ate here we knew they were opening a bakery next door. We saw that it was open! So this morning we woke early and came to Honeymoon Bakery. It has brought a fun flair to this city. It offers amazing baked goods, wifi, coffee and sparkling water. Can I get any happier?? : ) We like to start off our wedding days in a calm, relaxed and prepared state. We don't like rushing. So we woke and were ready with two hours to spare. Perfect! We made it here to do some reading, emailing, and for Chris talking. : ) Now we have all our thoughts and plans in order for the beautiful day ahead.

Family Heritage

"Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa."

It is hard to express the value of my heritage in word. It is rich and deep; established long ago. Even though I have spent the majority of my life in the South, it is not where most of my heritage is from. It is found in the beautiful black soil in the farmland. On a century farm, my Great Great Grandfather started to make a living for his family. Chris and I wanted to document this history by doing a fine art study of the farm. It was abnormally warm for harvest time. My mother, brother and sister-in-law (Ben and Anna) were there as well. It was such a treasure to have my mother there to tell of all the stories long since past to Anna and Chris. She loves harvest time. She says "it is the time of the year that you are finally paid for all of your hard work." The land gives; and life can again go on for another year. In the South, we don't see this return from the land as much. It is such a poetic time of year to see the circle of life in action. Here are some of the beautiful images we found.

An early morning view of the silos.

Unlike the drought in the South, Iowa had plenty of rain. There was no loss for beautiful green grass.

I love these silos...such a symbol of the farm. Chris captured most of these and I love this one.

As a farmer, this is the view you would see often in relation to the silo. What a climb.

They keep tractors and lumber in the machine shed. I loved this detail of the black soil of the dirt floor, lush grass and tread marks with the reflection of a clear day.

A detail of the wheel from a tractor.

Detail of chains in the machine shed.

CORN! This is feed corn. There are three different types of corn. Sweet, seed and feed. Sweet corn is the one we all eat. It was harvested earlier when it was green. This is feed corn and is harvested once it is dried. The corn will then be used to feed animals.

I loved this shot taken around 10 am. With the nice sun flare and dance of the stalks.

We then headed to the Amish Country. There is a colony just about 30 minutes away from the family farm. Anna and Chris had never experienced them before. It's such a culture shock and a great learning experience. They all speak German
as well as English. They need large horses to do farm work, as they do not use any machines or electricity. Here are their beautiful Belgian horses.

Mode of transportation: horse and buggy.

The children are adorable. The one in the front has the cutest personality and was very playful. The one in the back is very shy and just adorable as she hides behind her cousin.

It's not the Midwest with out some Ball Canning Jars.

Maddie and Eli...the horses we rode on the farm.

A detail of the electrical fence.

Eli is Maddie's son. They are both gorgeous horses.

A view of the land that I took as Chris and I enjoyed a four wheeler ride through the crop fields.

I hope you have enjoyed taking a peak into the land that I came from. I am amazed by the Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers, Sisters, and Grand Children that have come from this land. I am forever indebted to this beautiful heritage.

Farm Days

Chris and I are in the heartland of America right now. I was born in Waterloo, Iowa. I was gifted a beautifully rich family heritage. We have spent some of time doing a fine art story of the farm. There are many beautiful images we will have to share in a little while. For now we wanted to share this image, that Chris captured, looking out into the fields after harvest. The land has given and produced life and sustenance. What a beautiful part of this country to appreciate. Those of us in the city don't always get to enjoy this. We'll be home later today and we'll have some beautiful images to share soon.

Sandel Children

Back when we were at WinShape Retreat for our respite, we met the Sandels. Beverly and Todd are a blast and their energy level is contagious! : ) They have three children at four years and under. There is Joey the oldest, then Janey in the middle, then little Jilley as the sweet little ending. Their kids are absolutely adorable. We stopped by their house last week to do some pictures of the kids. Sadly, Todd was working, but we had a great time with Beverly and the kids. Enjoy slideshow and these fun pictures we took of them!

JIll is ONE!!! So we did some special little pictures of her. : )

A detail of big brother and sister climbing and playing around.

This picture reminds me of life as the third child.

Swing time! I love how Jill is in the background just "hanging out."

Don't you want to just eat her up??

Precious sibling love.

The fall afternoon/evening light has been just yummy lately. Look at this sweet one of her just having fun on her own.

OK, Beverly brought out these little outfits and the girls just loved them. The colors just pop!

Baby Jill is one!

Getting all three on the boat was hard, we had to use food to make it work. : ) Chris and I had a great time with your family, we'll be back often to play more. : )

Charlie and Maggie

Charlie is my little brother and he is getting married! It's been the year of family weddings and now it's Charlie's turn. He is marrying Maggie, which we all just love. We are thrilled to have her joining the family. We went out a few weekends ago to Lake Acworth which is the lake where Charlie proposed. We had a great time and their dog Cooper was in for all the fun. He is just like our dog, Asia, only he is a Redbone Coon Hound instead of Black and Tan. He's a mess and still all puppy. He was a blast to have tag along.

Enjoy all the slideshow and all the fun pictures!
